It was the premiere, provocative parade of platinum pulchritude. The positive power of the Pussycat Dolls was proven when preening pop princess Christina Aguilera, along with the LA Pussycats, partied, purred and promenaded at PURE in Caesars Palace until dawn this morning. A tempting tease of thigh, a saucy sampling of stockings, a barrage of bras and a glimpse of garters all came together in a festival of flesh for the grand opening of the new Pussycat Dolls Casino outside the jam-packed nightclub.

Dita Von Teese to Perform for Five Sexy Nights in Las Vegas

It was Hugh Hefner's 80th birthday surprise performance in Paris by international queen of burlesque, Dita Von Teese, that landed her five nights of a special striptease engagement in Las Vegas at MGM Grand's Crazy Horse Paris.
Dita has just agreed to an April 15-20 run here when she will repeat the two seductive dance numbers that Hef applauded in the original European nightspot. The porcelain-faced, tiny-waisted sophisticated and glamorous woman -- newly separated from rocker Marilyn Manson -- was the first ever guest star in the legendary show's 55-year history. LUXE LIFE talked exclusively with Dita during a recent Victoria's Secret autograph session of her two-sided book on the art of undressing.

Dita, clad in a '40s look of high-heels, garter belt, stockings and corsets, has established a unique retro-style of classic vintage glamour. She told us how much she loved Vegas and thought that the true art of burlesque still had a valid place in Vegas nightlife. Now her dream to play the Strip is coming true. Dita will be seen in her oversized champagne glass, which serves as a bubble bath that Hef and his Girls Next Door went crazy for. Dita has made this bubble bath routine her own trademark and had performed it days earlier on the French Riviera during a double back and forth roundtrip jet flight from LA that we reported on LUXE LIFE.
In addition to a second surprise routine Dita will also join the troupe of beauties for the revived famous Jacques Morales finale disco song " We Are the Girls of Crazy Horse." Crazy Horse execs indicate Dita's guest run is the first of many similar significant events that mark the show's recent name change from "La Femme" over to MGM Grand's Crazy Horse Paris as a result of the Federal Government's successful prosecution case against the owners of the Crazy Horse Too strip club for tax evasion.

Girls, Girls, Girls: Carmen Electra, Jenny McCarthy, and a Mischievous Playboy Bunny

Sex kitten Carmen Electra is becoming Vegas' newest showbiz regular and the former wife of Dennis Rodman and Dave Navarro is already turning heads here.
This past weekend Carmen popped up all over town in advance of the new magic show she's headlining with Dutch illusionist Hans Klok at the Planet Hollywood this spring. At Studio 54 in MGM Grand she hosted a steamy one-night affair and knocked out party goers with her stunning beauty and seductive dance moves from her skybox, perched high above the dance floor.
Then, just 24-hours later, Carmen officiated at the grand opening ceremonies of the new adult entertainment topless Mens Club and told us that she was "totally blown away" when she watched Hans' magic tricks. "I love magic and am really looking forward to doing the show in Vegas," said Carmen. She's signed on for an initial 13-week run with shows every Thursday, Friday and weekends.

Gorgeous knockout Jenny McCarthy was another all-over-town beauty, turning up at TAO in The Venetian with her sister Amy and several friends, dancing the night away in black jeans and a sheer black and white see-through blouse to show off her black bra. Earlier, Jenny and Cedric the Entertainer dined at N9NE Steakhouse in the Palms before hitting the Playboy Club.
A BUNNY BEAUTY

She's known as the Playboy Bunny who turns all the guys heads. Mischievous April Michelle is always asked by the stars for a souvenir take-home photo when they see her at the Playboy Club. LUXE LIFE caught the brunette beauty in the camera clinch with everybody from Cedric to Paula and Big Ben Roethlisberger.

FLIRT GIRLS
Flirt Fashions pulled out all the stops with a sexy fashion show at Tangerine and we just knew you'd want to see the photos!!!

Now Dan is the only American to hold a title in Pride and is the first ever in Pride history to hold two belts. X-Girls Are Back as Sexiest Show in Vegas Returns to The Strip | First-Look Photos
Our photographer Scott Doctor was invited to put them into focus with "an arty shoot that covered up the naked bits as best possible." Trust me when you go see the show after Friday's first night, this is really in-your-face, titillating entertainment! Resort-hotel execs are celebrating the naughty near-naked shenanigans by even opening up an X-themed bar with specialty cocktails for their run in the new-look lounge feel of the comedy theater! Enjoy the photos and then rush to the box office! (Click each thumbnail for the full-size sexiness.)

Vegas Gets Sexier with Return of X Girls | Countdown to Hoffamania | At the Spa with Mario Lopez

The X Girls are back and with just four days to curtain up and tops off, Luxe Life has the first exclusive photos of their provocative new burlesque show opening at the Flamingo on Monday.
It's all about beds, bathtubs and bungees for the six beautiful and talented topless dancers in the 90-minute production. The seductive show may smack of the style of traditional burlesque, but this is as modern as it comes with imaginative choreography, outrageous routines and funky energetic acrobatics. It's an eye-popping, intimate experience for the audience who really get up-close to Pharoah Fawcett, Sharon DeLove and one gorgeous girl in nothing but go-go boots and luminescent body paint!

The erotic X Girls -- twins Shakeera and Meeka, Brenda, Britney, Michelle, Yulia, Yelena, Olga and Melania join the Flamingo marquee names of singer Toni Braxton and comedy heavyweight George Wallace. "The X Girls are a talented group of gorgeous dancers and their new Burlesque project brings an energetic and sexy production to the resort," said Flamingo president, Don Marrandino. "We are excited to add this edgy show to our already dynamic line-up"
The new show is co-produced by the husband and wife team of Angela Sampras and Matt Stabile. "X has always been known for pushing the envelope and X Burlesque will take that to the next level," said Angela. "The dancers are amazing, the routines are unique and the tops are off."

During their previous run at the Desert Passage's V Theater, the talented temptresses had to use tape over certain areas, since licensing laws forbad topless nudity. The Monday thru Friday shows are at 10PM with bonus midnight performances on weekends!
COUNTDOWN TO HOFFAMANIA
It's just about 24 hours now as David Hasselhoff counts down to curtain up on 'The Producers' musical opening tomorrow night at the Paris Las Vegas. (Click here for our Hoff in Vegas photo tour.) Don't think of him as the strapping handsome hunk in the red swimsuit on the 'Baywatch' beach, because tomorrow he'll be in a wig, gown and high heels as an outrageously gay director -- the world's worst by the way -- in the Mel Brook's production which first saw life as a 1968 movie with Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel with British butler bloke Christopher Hewitt in David's high-heels! It then opened in New York in 2001 and went onto rack- up 12 Tony Awards -- the most ever in Broadway history -- with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick. The show is built around a 'Springtime for Hitler' musical comedy about the Furor and his 3rd Reich as the sure-fire flop two producers use as the baddest of bad ideas to defraud $2-million from their investors. Think of it as a fast moving 90-minute vaudeville and slapstick show, complete with flying and dancing girls and the sexiest secretary -- Ulla played by Leigh Zimmerman -- to ever use a shorthand for dictation! David, currently single after two marriages will have his teenage daughters, Hayley and Taylor-Ann, in the audience for the opening night. He plans to host the new upcoming season of NBC's 'America's Got Talent' while juggling 'The Producers' show schedule. We'll give you our full, opening night Luxe Life photo report on Monday. SAMMY'S STAR
Hard to believe its almost 20 years since veteran Vegas showman, Sammy Davis Jr. died, but next Thursday, Feb. 15, he'll finally get honored on the: Las Vegas Walk of Stars, and his widow Altovise will be on hand at the Riviera Hotel to accept his star, which will be embedded into the sidewalk outside the resort a few days later. Born in Harlem, New York back in December 1925, Sammy was dancing by the age of three. After a U.S. Army stint he appeared in his first Broadway show in 1956 with Mr. Wonderful. He joined Frank Sinatra's Rat Pack of Vegas entertainers in 1959. Divorced from May Britt in 1968 he was married to Golden Boy dancer Altovise by the Rev. Jesse Jackson in 1970.
STAR COLORIST
Just as Luxe Life previously and exclusively reported, Michael Boychuck, colorist to the stars -- including Paris Hilton and her sister Nicky, Willa Ford, Kirsten Dunst and his newest client, Britney Spears -- has just started making magic at the spectacular new luxurious Qua Spa in the recently opened Augustus Tower at Caesars Palace. (Click here for our first QUA spa tour coverage.) He'll run the old salon there until his own-designed state-of-the-art ,15-chair salon completes construction and opens this summer. Caesar's President Gary Selesner (seen below with Michael), celebrated the new partnership at a RAO's dinner and said: "Our guests have come to expect the absolute best whether it be dining, gaming, entertainment, or with our hotel rooms and spa services. Michael is the perfect addition to our family of headline names and keeps us a cut above the competition." My friend Michael added: "Caesars has set new standards of excellence in the past few years. Now we're raising the bar in the salon-spa industry and I am thrilled to be part of it." He retains his partnership with George Maloof in the hot and hip AMP Salon at the Palms Casino Resort.
AT THE SPA WITH MARIO

'Dancing with the Stars' near-winner Mario Lopez took time out from his Miss America Pageant visit to checkout that brand new QUA super spa.

He loved the giant whirlpool soaking baths and the one of a kind artic-room, where snow actually falls gently on you as you rest on heated stone! Mario told Luxe Life: "I love Vegas. I come for the shows, the sports, the restaurants and the shopping, and now I'm coming for the spa. This was the perfect mini-vacation, squeezed in between Miss America and returning to Canada for a Christmas movie for Disney."
PLATINUM CHEF

A non-gaming, non-smoking new hotel would probably face an uphill challenge in Vegas, particularly when it's not in amongst the glitz and glamour of the action-packed star-studded casinos. But in this tale of two cities, it's a sanctuary of quiet, comfort and sophistication that's making a big noise, and all thanks to a remarkable new chef who is about to have star status conferred on him. Executive Chef Brent Hammer's edgy American cuisine with a remarkable difference has made him an overnight hero at the new 255-suite Platinum condo-hotel and spa; just a block and a bit east of the Bellagio and Caesars Palace strip intersection.
Brent (seen above), is just 30, and is daring with innovative creations featuring new twists on old favorites and with a whimsical humor to boot. His Elvis Pancakes at breakfast are made with peanut butter, bacon and bananas and at dinner One Mallard Duck that becomes a six-courses soup through entree in its own right or for dessert his Exploding Caramel Apples with apple-cider in the center! It really is a dining adventure unparalleled, and if you want to try everything on the menu but can't, he's even come up with micro-plate cuisine where you get everything on a miniaturized scale! His NY Sirloin Steak is even paired with four different premium single-malt scotches! Please don't think this is gimmick; it is serious culinary adventures and Brent is already emerging as the newest young culinary chef in a city filled with world-class kitchen czars! The self-taught chef told me: "I use luxe ingredients but I don't take myself seriously. I respect the food I work with. I simply fell in love with the kitchen. This is a fun adventure where my goal is to engage all the sense. I decided to abandon the traditional approach to food and incorporate all kinds of crazy twists but in the end it has to taste fantastic, and it does! I simply wanted to awe my guests and make dining with me the most joyful experience of their day." His sleek contemporary restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, overlooks the hotel pool and its stunning views of the Strip. Go check it out because I guarantee you that you've never seen a menu like this one, and once you've tasted the treats you'll return time and time again.
STRIP SCRIBBLES
I will take the credit for being the first to break the exclusive news that the explosive rock group Tool will be the first performers over two nights, starting March 15, at the new Pearl concert theater in the Palms. ... Barry Manilow returns to headline at the Hilton next Tuesday, but while he was away he appeared at New York's Madison Square Garden, where world-renowned saxophonist Dave Koz joined him for an impromptu duet. That led to Barry recording the old Henry Mancini-Andy Williams hit "Moon River" on Dave's new album, and I'm told that if Dave has a free night he's going to try and hop over to Sin City for a repeat performance. ... Also at the Hilton is my pal, Saturday Night Live veteran Joe Piscopo in an unlimited Shimmer Cabaret by-night run as of Sunday week (February 18) and by day he'll be working on his own production of the Joey Benefit movie to star actor Chazz Palminteri.
TONIGHT'S TIP
It's the official relaunch of Bounce at the Caramel ultra-lounge in the Bellagio with parties planned every Thursday night from now on. Keep your eyes open for the Hip Hop Honey's with some of today's sexiest hip-hop industry models. The Moody Blues begin a three-night-run of shows at the Hilton and the Jamz Cheer & Dance show cuts some fancy footwork at the Orleans Arena.
TOMORROW'S TEASE
A 10-year-dream comes true as a slew of stars jet in for the groundbreaking ceremony and the glittering Keep Memory Alive gala fund-raiser. Look out for 'Desperate Housewives' star Terri Hatcher, movie stars Kevin Spacey and Hilary Duff. Along with comedian Brad Garrett.

Former Miss Nevada USA Katie Rees is Crowned Again in Las Vegas

While Miss America 2007, Oklahoma's 20-year-old Lauren Nelson was still being congratulated early this morning, at the Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino -- less than a quarter mile away, dethroned Miss Nevada USA Katie Rees won another title and crown.
And Rees, who's scandalous, girl-girl, nude sex photos on the Internet created shock waves felt around the world, had two words for everybody: "Hollywood baby!"
Call it one wild night for the pageant business in Vegas! This was a battle of the beauty queens as Lauren won the Miss America crown, a $50,000 scholarship and $100,000's worth of jewelry and fashion accessories, while Katie beat out several last-minute contestants and was voted Miss JET Las Vegas 2007, winning a crown, a scepter, a special sash, and even a dozen roses!

Marketing executives at the JET Nightclub in the Mirage dreamed up the "Hail to the Queen" party stunt to capitalize on all the real Miss America excitement around town. Jeff Beacher's Madhouse emcee Pete Giovine played the role of host, the same duty that Mario Lopez had just wrapped on the live Miss America broadcast for millions watching across the country. "It restores Katie's status as a true pageant professional," said Pete with a laugh.
It was a royal evening in a sense, because to ensure "the perfect look," she called on stylist to the stars, Michael Boychuck at his AMP salon in the Palms, and his top hair and makeup lady, Christy made the magic! Ironically Christy, as we reported yesterday in Luxe Life, had just turned down Prince's invitation for her to travel with him to Miami for this weekend's Super Bowl halftime concert. So Christy may have said NO to a Prince but she said YES to a princess!
The nightclub was packed for the event, and guests included Katie's parents and grandparents. Before the re-crowning coronation she had family and friends for dinner at Chef Brian Massie's STACK restaurant with "pigs in a blanket" for everybody as the main taste treat. But everybody saved room for the massive, three-tier "Hail to the Queen" cake made by Bellagio's pastry chef to the stars Jean-Philippe Maury. "Several contestants showed up in a surprise appearance trying to snag the title away from Katie, but they were no match for the beautiful and talented former beauty queen," said a JET executive. To celebrate in style Katie danced to the music of celebrity DJ Ruckus and enjoying vodka on the rocks and taking kamikaze shots with all her fans until the pre-dawn hours this morning. But absolutely no repeat performance of the out of control behavior that wound up in the steamy sex- photo session on the internet that had mogul Miss USA Pageant owner Donald Trump yanking her title and crown; refusing to give her a second chance.
We asked Katie what she now wants. "Hollywood baby" she said firmly. "I'm going there and we'll make something beautiful happen out of what was a totally unfair mess for me. But that's in the past. I'm not looking back. I'm going forward and we'll try to have the success I wanted originally."

Miss Oklahoma Lauren Nelson Crowned Miss America 2007

'There She Is ...' Miss Oklahoma Lauren Nelson beat out 51 other gorgeous ladies tonight to become Miss America 2007 and the winner of a $50,000 scholarship.
Within minutes of winning, the 20-year-old from Lawton, OK brushed back tears to tell Luxe Life, "This organization saved my life. I'm so very excited. This is a dream I never thought would come true. I watched Miss America as a little girl, since I was two-years-old, and never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be Miss America. But that's what's wonderful about this organization."
The victory is nothing new for the state of Oklahoma, which was represented in 2006 by outgoing Miss America Jennifer Berry, who gave Luxe Life her final interview as Miss America, which we posted earlier today. It's also the third time that one state has had back-to-back winners. In 1935 and 1936 it was Pennsylvania, and in 1959 and 1960 it was Mississippi. With Nelson's win, Oklahoma becomes the most winning state, with six winners in the 87 years of the pageant.
Nelson said she will soon be seeking Berry's advice on what life will be like as the new Miss America. "Jennifer and I are friends," she said. "I haven't spoken to her in a few days, but her phone number will be on speed dial. I'll probably be talking to her tonight."

After 90 minutes of competition, it came down to five finalists, all from the southern part of the country. In addition to Miss Oklahoma, the other finalists are (pictured below in order) Miss Georgia Amanda Kozak, Miss Texas Shilah Phillips , Miss Alabama Melinda Toole and Miss Mississippi Taryn Foshee.

The Miss America Pageant has the swimsuit and evening gown competitions, but is different from other pageants in that it features a talent competition with the five finalists performing live.
"After i was one of the top ten semi-finalists, everything else was icing on the cake and I said 'Now I can just have fun,' said the new Miss America. "Being in the top five, I was just so excited to sing on national TV."
After the the talent competition, the five ladies stood nervously before a theater audience of 7,000 and another 30 million watching the live broadcast on CMT from the Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Then it was narrowed to three, Miss Oklahoma, Miss Georgia and Miss Texas.
Each lady was interviewed and then the judges -- Chris Matthews, Debbie Allen, Michael Feinstein, Nigel Barker and Susan Powell -- cast their final vote and decided that Miss Oklahoma would hold the Miss America crown for the next 12 months. Miss Texas was first runner up and Miss Georgia was named second runner up. The other popular award of the night, Miss Congeniality, went to Miss Alabama.

"When Mario Lopez said my name, my knees buckled. I went straight to the ground," said Miss America. "The emotions inside are so surreal to know I have the crown on my head and the sash says 'Miss America 2007.'"
When football players win the Super Bowl, they usually say they are going to Disney World, but after winning Miss America, the one-time Miss Teen Lawton said she wants to go somewhere else. "I'd like to eat some caramel cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory to celebrate," she said.

Miss America Favorites and Prediction
The 2007 Miss America Pageant is a couple of hours away and as the second year in Vegas wraps, it's been a pretty exciting week. If you haven't been catching Robin Leach's Luxe Life coverage of Miss America, you need to catch-up. He's been in the thick of it since the ladies came to town last week. Yeah, like we said then, and as the photos prove, it's a tough assignment for him.
He's been there as the ladies rode gondolas at the Venetian and cut loose on the dance floor at Planet Hollywood. He's chatted with host Mario Lopez and conducted the
final interview with 2006 Miss America Jennifer Berry.

Robin and photographer Scott Doctor have also been keeping everyone up-to-date from the pageant stage with the nightly prelim winners. Miss Texas Shilah Phillips and Miss Oklahoma Lauren Nelson took the talent and fitness/swimsuit honors the first night respectively, Miss Hawaii Pilialoha Gaison (talent) and Miss Nebraska Molly McGrath (fitness/Swimsuit) won the second night and Miss California Jacquelynne Fontaine (talent) and Miss Pennsylvania Emily Wills (fitness/swimsuit) won the
final night of prelims.

As I was laboriously reviewing the winners swimsuit and formal gown photos along with pics the other 46 contestants (I have a tough job, too), I am prepared to predict the winner.
Miss Texas Shilah Phillips will be the next Miss America. In the spirit of full disclosure, it must be said that I am from Texas originally, but there are many more factors other than Texas repuation for beuaty queens. She obviously has talent, she's obviously beautiful and I really, really liked her gown. Guys can like gowns, right?
In addition to the other preliminary winners, Miss Nevada Caydi Cole, Miss Alaska Stephanie Pia Wonchala, Miss Alabama Melinda Toole, Miss Delaware Jamie Ginn, Miss South Dakota Callee Bauman and Miss Colorado Janie Allen round out my top 12. I may as well list my top 52, as I definitely know there will be a winner crowned tonight and I'm sure the competition is that close.
I"m going to slip into my pageant outfit and get ready to enjoy the festivities.
Check back here later tonight for Robin's Luxe Life interview with the new Miss America.
Update: Looks like I would have lost my bet with Miss Oklahoma Lauren Nelson being crowned the 2007 Miss America . It was a Red River Shootout with Miss Texas being named the first runner-up so I wasn't too far off. Congratulations to all of the ladies and to Vegas for a great Pageant Week. Maybe next year, we can have the parade everybody is missing.

Jennifer Berry -- Her Final Interview as Miss America

Tonight, Jennifer Berry, Miss America 2006, will wear her crown for the last time, as her 12-month reign comes to an end. Minutes before 7PM PST, she will crown her replacement; Miss America 2007. Luxe Life sat down with Jennifer for her final interview and in this exclusive, emotional and candid conversation she really spills some secrets of her year at the top.
Robin Leach: Tomorrow morning I am thinking that the only girl who is going to want to talk to you is the new Miss America and she is going to say HELP. So go back 12 months and tell us, who did you ask?
Jennifer Berry: I talked with a lot of the past Miss Americas. Deidre Downs, who crowned me; she was my best outlet for advice. You never know until you have lived it yourself. So I spoke with Deidre and Chantal Smith, who was Miss America 96 from Oklahoma, someone that I have known for a while and that is the best outlet because there are only 85 of us who have really gone through it. So you have to look at the ones who have been there done that.
RL: So, what will you tell the new Miss America tomorrow morning?
JB: I will tell her, you know, you are starting a new year that is going to be one of the most rewarding years of your life, but also one of the most challenging years, and one of the most exhausting years. This will be a year that will challenge you personally, emotionally, spiritually, physically, and mentally. It will be something that you will grow from drastically. I will tell her to take it one day at a time and know that it is just one year and on the bad days find something that you can be grateful for. RL: So, what is a bad day? When you have to wake up early and put in 12 hours?
JB: A bad day is that and like anybody else's bad day. You are tired, sick and had a stressful day prior to that and Miss America may have to make four speeches in one day and maybe you don't feel good. Those aren't the best days and I say that we are human just like anybody else and there are days when you don't want to be Miss America. You have to realize that is the role and the responsibility you took on for that year.
RL: What is Miss America when she isn't Miss America on a bad day? Does she stay in bed? Is she in sweats and no makeup or what?
Mario Lopez Ready for His Night with Miss America
Handsome Mario Lopez is all ready to go dancing with the stars tonight. He'll partner this time, though, with the 52 beautiful state princesses competing in the Miss America Pageant to be telecast live at 8PM EST on CMT from the Aladdin/Planet Hollywood Casino & Resort here in Las Vegas."I'm surprised the producers didn't actually ask me to dance with them as an opening number, but if one of the ladies wants me to dance I won't turn her down," Lopez said. In an interview before going to final rehearsals Mario told us that he doesn't think of himself as replacing longtime Miss America star Bert Parks because he "won't be doing any singing."
He added: "I am honored to be the host. I am very excited to be here. I'm going to do a great job and have fun and promise not to mess up. I know how difficult it is for the competitors because they will feel very vulnerable and get nervous so it's my job to have fun so they don't think about the pressure. I have the utmost respect for the Miss America Pageant, particularly because it is scholarship based. I have so much respect for those who enter it because not only is it hard to be judged in a swimsuit by 7,000 people live in the theater here but also by the millions watching on TV. And the same goes for the talent portion."
Mario, who left a Calgary, Canada where he's shooting a new Christmas movie for ABC-Disney, is in talks for more episodes of 'Nip/Tuck' but will continue his weekend anchor duties on 'Extra' and his mixed martial arts hosting on Showtime and the boxing coverage for HBO Latino. "I'm a huge boxing fan and I love to come to Vegas for all the fights," he said. "I'll be back for the match-up between Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya. I know Oscar, so don't count him out as the under-dog. He's power and he's got fight."

The former 'Saved by the Bell' star said he brought all his family to Vegas for tonight's Miss America show. "My mom is here with my sister and her husband and my niece and nephew. We had dinner at RAO's in Caesars and then toured their new QUA spa. Wow is that beautiful. Then we all went to the PURE nightclub. Vegas is the best. I love it here. People are always in a great mood and it's like New Year's Eve every day of the year. You have the best food, the best entertainment and the best events all in one compact place, and it never stops."
I asked Mario what he'd be looking for tonight if he was one of the judges instead of the host. "She'd have to have the IT factor; the wow!" he said. "The winner for me would be the woman who is comfortable in her own skin and came complete with an awesome personality." Since he was once married to Ali Landry, winner of the rival Miss USA beauty pageant I asked him if he'd possibly find his next romance tonight at the Miss America pageant. Mario and Ali's brief marriage allegedly broke-up when tales of his wild, bachelor partying in Vegas surfaced!
He laughed good naturedly and said, "I'd be the worst boyfriend with all that I have going on in my life at the moment. I am so busy I don't have time to date. I just enjoy being with my family when I have free time and they take care of my social life for now. I don't know how mature I was then, but I am getting it now. I'm comfortably in my 30's and I'm now able to say so this is how it's supposed to be. I'm really discriminating about what I do and who I see these days.""It's a shame that with 52 beautiful women at my side tonight I can't cheer for any particular one over the other. In fact, I will only meet them tonight for the first time on the stage so what you'll see is us interacting for the very first time. I'm going to have to stay focused because I'll want to talk to them and go off on a tangent, but I have to remember everything has to run to a tight time schedule so there won't even be time to get to know any of them. But if I had the opportunity to give some real advice to help the winner I'd say take advantage of all the opportunities. The year will go quickly but it will be a great platform to parlay into any career you might want, including show business."
Mario, who has previously hosted the Miss Teen USA pageant, summed up: "I love hosting. I think it's the job I am best at doing and tonight you'll see how genuinely excited I am with this grand American tradition. But it will be all about the fun, I promise!"
Later this morning, only here on Luxe Life, we'll have the final interview with Jennifer Berry as she ends her year-long reign as Miss. America 2006 and prepares to crown her successor tonight. It's a candid, emotional Luxe Life exclusive and you don't want to miss it!

Judging Miss America: Delta Burke Drops Out, Chris Matthews' Dream and the Swimsuit Debate
Actress Delta Burke was forced to quit her role as judge of the Miss America 2007 contest because of "intestinal flu" -- just one day into the event. After completing her first interviews with the first set of contestants she was taken ill and doctors decided she was too sick to continue.
Accordingly Miss America officials had to enforce " sick judge procedures" – and invalidate her first-day scores. Delta was unable to do a second day of questioning but on day threeshe was well enough to return home to Los Angeles where she will watch Monday's telecast while recovering from bed! She told Pageant officials, "I'm very sad and disappointed. It was not the time to get knocked to the floor. But I wish all the contestants the very best of wishes- they are a remarkable group of young women and all of them are winners."

Seen here with Aladdin/Planet Hollywood chief Mike Mecca, the remaining judges are entertainer Debbie Allen, former Miss America and 9-year host of Discovery's 'Home Matters' Susan Powell, TV's MSNBC 'Hardball' anchor Chris Matthews, singer-pianist-composer Michael Feinstein and Nigel Barker of 'America's Next Top Model.' They score the 52 contestants on the following basis: talent represents 35%; the swimsuit category is 15%, Eveningwear is 20% and an on-stage question is 5%. The final 25% is awarded from the individual judge's interviews.
"I've been tough," admitted Chris. "I played 'Hardball.' I probe and probe until you find the crazy point where you get at the truth of who they are. I grew up in New Jersey near Atlantic City and I watched every televised pageant and I was always trying to pick the best one- the winner. I loved Bert Parks and secretly I always wanted to be a Miss America judge just once in my career and that dream came true. I never saw the show as camp. I realized it was a very serious assignment. "
"All are Cinderella girls and have a powerful will to win. They are really impressive and were amazing in their knowledge of politics on the national and state levels. Everyone of them was aware of whats going on in the world politically and they knew everything about the top women leaders in the world. I tried tricks with them of their knowledge of their different states but they were completely aware of the right names and the right leaders.
"Its like a casting call by Prince Will to find the next Queen of England. You are looking for the best representative who will do good as the best in the country. Just like Prince Will's girlfriend you are looking for somebody who has been well brought up and will have the country looking up to her."
I asked each of the judges exactly how they were going to decide on their individual balloting for the new Ms. America to be crowned Monday night live from the Aladdin/Planet Hollywood resort hotel casino at the heart of the Vegas strip – and telecast live to the East Coast at 8pm ET on CMT.
Said Nigel: "I'm looking for the whole package, a smart girl with great appeal. Pageantry has a lot in common with our 'America's Next Top Model' show. They really have to be beautiful and sincere on the inside as well as the outside. They still must be natural but also commanding. They have to take control in a natural and well-mannered way. You sense it when you find the girl who "just does it" in every sense of the word winner. Its hard to be beautiful – there are a lot of problems they have to deal with so you look for the one who can be confident and handle it."
Debbie told me, "I'm looking for that one girl who carries a light that shows real radiance. I'm looking for a very progressive girl who at the same time is spiritual but in turn with young world thinking. I audition hundreds of girls every year for different shows. In DC, I just had 700 vying for 30 spots in my new show, 'Alex in Wonderland.' As I have been interviewing our contestants for Ms. America, I have honestly been thinking there's a rare queen among them and if I could grab a couple for the show! I am so impressed that they will go the distance in life. Our contestants are 17-24 years of age but however young they still seem to have the terms of experience for making the world a better place. We've set a high standard for ourselves to find the next Ms. America and its interesting to see all the challengers level out and be able to keep it all and hold it all the way to Monday night without once failing."
Michael agreed, "There's some really great talents here -- extraordinary in fact with piano and opera performances. They have set themselves very high standards and the cultural aspect of Miss America is essential. There's a number of these ladies I would work with and predict stardom as singers or musicians. I'm looking for the winner who has the ability to communicate whats best about the world and to share their vision for it through their talent. They are actually too good for 'American Idol' that they wouldn't even make it through the audition. 'American Idol' is about hitting the high note as TV drama and not about the artistry or the communication. Fortunately, we are finding that with these Ms. America's."
Susan added, "Having gone through this tough process as Ms. America 1981, I'm looking for somebody who is emotionally intelligent with a fabulous sense of humor." Chris chimed in, "It's the person who makes you feel better in the same presence. The word is actually 'baracka.' The very first moment the girl comes through the door there is that wondrous charismatic stunning moment – call it baracka. Everyone of these girls is a 'My Fair Lady' Audrey Hepburn winner but why kid ourselves its about that look. We also have to see they are passionately committed to their causes. It's like a newspaper with a front-page, a style-section, a sports section plus the funnies. We're looking to see just how many pages the winner has!"
"There's a lot of discussion about the validity of the swimsuit segment. You can't deny the physical reality of life. If you're on the beach there's nothing wrong in admiring something good. I'm a father so I can be objective and say it's a good thing and the girls have chosen modest outfits and nothing over the top."
Nigel added, "There's nothing wrong in being healthy and fit – and showing it. We don't want super-skinny and we certainly don't want obese – and swimsuits make it all a little more hip for today's generation."
So I asked the judges if there were already favorites and they gave me a resounding "NO." Said Chris, "Maybe by midnight Saturday we'll have a fairly good idea of the top 25 or the top 10. But it will go right down to the wire. None of us will know our individual voting."
Susan added, "The Miss America Organization even assigns a "shut-up person" to each of us to prevent us talking with each other about the individual contestants. So it really will happen at the last moment on live TV."
While the judges have been in Vegas, they have been hosted with cocktail parties by Mike Mecca, Planet Hollywood resort president Mike Mecca (PHOTO) and by award winning chef Andre Rochat at his Alize restaurant atop the Palms. Sunday, the judges will get spa treatments and brunch out at the Red Rock casino.
FORMER MISS AMERICAS
Phyllis George, Miss America 1971, and Las Vegas' own Lynn Weidner, who was Miss New Jersey 1971 and is now married to Bill Weidner, head honcho of the Las Vegas Sands-Venetian company, hosted the official Miss America luncheon. It was held at the Mariposa restaurant inside Neiman Marcus at the Fashion Show Mall. The Weidners made a significant large personal donation to kick off the new scholarship fundraising drive. Seven former Miss Americas also attended: Rebecca King, Kellye Cash, Donna Axum, Vonda Kay VanDyke, Heather French, Erica Dunlap and TV's Lee Merriweather of 'Barnaby Jones" and "All My Children."
Said Phyllis, "Our pageant is really all about scholarship and providing money to girls who might never have the opportunity to go onto school and succeed in life. This is our second consecutive year in Vegas and I promise you it will keep growing bigger and better. We've given a Baccarat crystal engraved vase to Lynn because she recruited all the former Miss Americass to ask for help from all over for the scholarship fund. In just 30-days, they've sent out 24,000 brochures and raised $100,000!"
REBRANDING
"We're definitely bringing the shine back to Miss America," said CEO Sam Haskell. "We're rebranding and re-positioning it over a three-year program. Moving to Vegas was part one and the new-look TV program is part two. Our brand new alliance with the Children's Miracle Network, started by Marie Osmond and John Schneider, is another change in reaching out to 1400 children's hospitals across America. It's amazing to see Ms. America helping sick and injured children on their road to recovery. We'll make Miss America a little more hip and modern without sacrificing our integrity and high standards of scholarship. We can't rush it. It has to be slow steps but we're going to do it."
Entertainer Danny Gans, who headlines at the Mirage, performed for free at a sold out first-time Childrens Miracle Network 'evening of dreams' gala for all the Miss America ladies – and raised over an additional $100,000 for the charity!
THE FINAL INTERVIEW
Monday night, Jennifer Berry will wear her Miss America 2006 crown for the last time as she crowns the new 2007 winner. On Monday morning AOL Luxe Life has the exclusive last interview and exclusive photos with Jennifer. She talks about the amazing 20,000 monthly mile travel schedule and living out of just two suitcases for her 12 months on the road. "Everything went on hold for a year, my life, my romance, but I was able to achieve so many things." Jennifer has just become engaged and proudly shows her stunning engagement ring and reveals plans for a spring wedding!
Miss America Preliminary Night Two: Miss Hawaii and Miss Nebraska Take Honors

This just in...
Miss Hawaii Pilialoha Gaison was named Friday night's preliminary talent winner for her Tahitian dance to "Te Vaka" during the second night of competition in the 2007 Miss America Pageant at the Aladdin/Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Pilialoha will receive a $2,000 scholarship.
Also in the spotlight was Miss Nebraska Molly McGrath, who was the preliminary lifestyle and fitness in swimsuit winner in a magenta Venus swimsuit. Molly will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
The New Look of Miss America | FIRST REHEARSAL PHOTOS

Four major changes to the 2007 Miss America pageant telecast will give it a whole new look as you can see from these first rehearsal photos. The expected 30-million viewers will be closer to picking the winner than ever before. Even a touch of 'American Idol' excitement has been added to the two hour, CMT broadcast on Monday night at 8PM EST from the Aladdin/Planet Hollywood Casino & Resort here in Las Vegas.
In addition, CMT's program production chief Sarah Brock has added long-respected veteran Don Mischner's producing team to "run the show" and right afterwards he heads to Miami to produce the mammoth Super Bowl half time spectacular with Prince. Previously Don has produced for the Rolling Stones and the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics opening extravaganza.
"When you think about it, Miss America was the very first and original reality show," Sarah told me. "But you never got to see what went on behind the scenes. Now you're going to see all of that for the first time."
Roving reporter Alyson DeMarcus will get quick hit reactions from the judges right through the pageant so viewers will know how the contestant s are being judged and how they're moving ahead or slipping behind.
Fourteen minutes of the two hour show will be devoted to quick-edited packages from the private interview session between the individual contestants and the judges. MSNBC's Chris Matthews is really playing 'Hardball' with the girls. He's done his homework and asking tough questions. So are Debbie Allen and Nigel Barker. It's tough and you don't want to wilt under fire. This is a very crucial part of the contest accounting for 35% of the overall voting and viewers will see it all for the first time.
After each competition segment there'll be a Sprint fan favorite text-message opportunity for viewers to "reach right out to the show," and record their votes for each contestant. We'll all know it in the theater, including the judges, and we'll show it on the telecast but the information will be kept from the 52 girls.
Voting by the public for the three Miss Congeniality candidates begins Friday night after the airing of the Pageant School reality show and will end at 8:30PM ET during the telecast. Within 30 minutes the viewers results will be tabulated at CMT headquarters in Nashville and on a special tie-line right into the theater production VP Sarah Brock will be able to announce the winner as the first hour ends.
"We've really got the viewers more involved than ever before," Sarah told me. "It changes the entire dynamic of the show and certainly adds to the excitement of the big night. Plus this year the girls are more glamorous than ever before in a modern way. They are the best you could ever ask for- and every one of them is a TV star in her own right. We'll even see some of these princesses winding up with TV careers of their own within a few years"
